Deer Park receives grant for smoke detector give-away

The City of Deer Park and Spokane County Fire District 4 have received a smoke detector give-away grant from Washington state Department of Health.

The city and fire district want to place 100 smoke detectors in Deer Park residences. The grant is targeted for senior citizens and families with children who don’t have smoke detectors in their homes within the Deer Park city limits.

District 4 fire crews will install the smoke detectors free of charge for each qualifying Deer Park resident. The detectors will be on a first-call, first-receive basis until the detectors are gone.

The installations will be done by appointment. To schedule an appointment call the Fire District’s Administration office at 467-4500 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
