N.L. Wednesday’s games

The Spokesman-Review

Phillies 15, Rockies 4: Pitcher Randy Wolf (5-7) homered twice, giving him three this season, and threw seven solid innings to lead Philadelphia over Colorado. Wolf, who has four career homers, went 3 for 3 and scored three runs in becoming the first major league pitcher to homer twice in a game since the Phillies’ Robert Person on June 2, 2002, against Montreal.

Dodgers 11, Reds 1: Los Angeles won for the seventh time in nine games, winning at Cincinnati. Jose Hernandez had a bases-loaded triple and a two-run homer, and Shawn Green added a three-run shot.

Cardinals 1, Marlins 0: Jeff Suppan (10-6) allowed just two hits in eight-plus innings, Edgar Renteria singled home the only run and St. Louis extended its winning streak to seven games with a win against host Florida.

Braves 10, Brewers 3: Adam LaRoche had his first career two-homer game and J.D. Drew added a solo shot for Atlanta, which defeated visiting Milwaukee. The Braves won without Chipper Jones, who sat out nursing a bruised right hand.

Pirates 8, Giants 6 (11): Craig Wilson hit a two-run homer in the 11th and Pittsburgh won its fourth straight game, a victory over visiting San Francisco. Jason Bay, who homered and drove in four runs, opened the 11th for the Pirates with a single for his fourth hit.

Expos 7, Diamondbacks 3: Brian Schneider’s grand slam capped host Montreal’s six-run outburst in the fourth inning, and the Expos whipped Arizona. The Diamondbacks fell to a major league-worst 35-80, becoming the first team to reach 80 losses.

Cubs 5, Padres 1: Carlos Zambrano (11-6) pitched eight strong innings in his return from a five-game suspension and Corey Patterson homered to lead host Chicago over San Diego.

Astros 5, Mets 4 (10): Brad Ausmus’ RBI single in the 10th sent visiting Houston past New York. The teams played through a steady rain until a 55-minute delay in the sixth. Lightning flashes throughout the early innings drew gasps from a sparse crowd.
