Annual gospel music celebration Aug. 22

The historic Patah Flour Mills near Pomeroy, Wash., will host its annual “Hometown Revival” Old Time Gospel Sing Aug. 22.

The event, which includes soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists, community singing and testimonies, attracts hundreds of gospel music lovers from throughout the Northwest

Music begins at 3 p.m., followed by a potluck picnic. Paul and Shirley Wishman from Pasco will lead the community singing and Juyne Bowles from Pomeroy will play the mill’s Wurlitzer organ. This year’s event also features a gathering of accordionists of all ages and abilities.

Outdoor worship

Metaline Falls (Wash.) Congregational United Church of Christ will host its second annual outdoor worship on Aug. 22.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. in the picnic shelter at Sullivan Lake Campground. A potluck luncheon will follow the service.

Guests are asked to bring a potluck item, picnic plates, cups and flatware, and camp chairs or a blanket. Root beer floats and coffee will be provided.

Unity concert

Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is hosting a free concert featuring Anton Mizerak and Kim Lorene Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Mizerak is a musician from Mount Shasta who plays harmonica and keyboards and writes his music in nature. He believes that the experience of nature conveyed through music can be a healing experience.

Lorene is a singer-songwriter from Canada, who sings songs inspired by love found in nature, people, animals and the faith.

Spiritual Hunger Conference

The sixth annual Spiritual Hunger Conference, hosted by the Healing Rooms Ministries, will be Wednesday through next Saturday at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda and Bill Johnson will be guest speakers at the conference. Wednesday’s session will start at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday sessions will begin at 2 and 7 p.m. both days. Saturday’s will be at 10 a.m. and 2 and 7 p.m.

“ The Spokane Christian Singles will celebrate its fourth year with a barbecue birthday bash Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at Mission Park.
