J.Lo to guest star on ‘Will & Grace’
Jennifer Lopez still won’t say whether she got married to singer Marc Anthony in June, but she has said yes to making her second appearance on NBC’s “Will & Grace” in the comedy’s season premiere Sept. 16.
Lopez, whose movie “Shall We Dance” is due to open this fall, will again play herself, reprising her role in the show’s season finale last April as the wedding entertainment when Megan Mullally’s character Karen married John Cleese’s Lyle in Las Vegas.
Lopez is the second singer signed for the show’s upcoming season. Janet Jackson will appear as herself in the second episode.
Doherty heads to Hawaii
Hoping to borrow a successful move from the network’s old playbook, Fox is welcoming back former “Beverly Hills, 90210” good girl Shannen Doherty as a “North Shore” bad girl.
Doherty, who recently left her gig hosting Sci Fi’s “Scare Tactics,” will begin a multi-episode story arc on Sept. 20. The former “Charmed” star will play Alexandra Hudson, the illegitimate daughter of Hawaiian hotel magnate Walter Booth (Christopher McDonald).
“North Shore” could use a boost. Through its first six episodes, the Monday night series is pulling in an average of 4.63 million viewers per week. Fox has ordered extra scripts beyond the show’s initial 13-episode order, but the network isn’t ready to commit to additional episodes.
