Wheat yield increases this year

The Spokesman-Review

Farmers are harvesting a good wheat crop this summer.

The average yield is expected to be about 69 bushels to the acre, four bushels higher than last year, according the Washington Agricultural Statistics Service.

The agency reported that the 1.7 million acres of winter wheat was in mostly fair to good condition.

The crop of spring wheat is expected to deliver yields of about 50 bushels an acre, about nine bushels an acre higher than last year’s drought-weary crop.
