Take a Walk on the “Wild” Side - Identify wildflowers, know how they are used by native animals, which are edible vs. poisonous, what we mean be exotic species, and be given a short history of the park by a qualified naturalist. Fifth Annual Koi and Goldfish Show - Presented by Inland Empire Water Garden Koi Society, Aug. 28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Aug. 29, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Spokane Fair & Expo Center, Havana at Broadway. $6/general, under age 12/free. Kids Club members admitted free. 928-9209.

Free Flowers for FTD Good Neighbor Day - Appleway Florist will give away a dozen flowers to the first 200 people visiting the shop. They will be asked to sign a promise to keep one flower for herself and give out the remaining 11 to different people to spread goodwill and friendship in the community. Sept. 1., 10 a.m., 11006 E. Friends of Manito Fall Plant Sale - The complete plant list is available online at www.thefriendsofmanito.org, or at TFMs office. Net proceeds from this sale are used to improve and maintain Manito Park. Hours 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with member-only sale from 8-10 a.m. Sept. 11. Manito Park, in an area just east of Gaiser Conservatory.
