Chiefs send forward Rupprecht to Moose Jaw
The Spokane Chiefs have traded 20-year-old forward Joel Rupprecht to the Moose Jaw Warriors for a conditional draft pick.
Rupprecht will be entering his fourth full season in the Western Hockey League. Rupprecht has played 214 career games, 161 in Spokane and the rest with Red Deer.
“With the limitations we face with 20-year-old players, we wanted to give Joel an opportunity to play his overage year in the WHL,” Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz said in a statement issued by the team.
Each WHL team is allowed three 20-year-old players on its roster.
The Chiefs currently have four remaining 20-year-olds on their roster: Jevon Desautels, Gary Gladue, Scott Lynch and Brad Schell. They open their annual camp next Friday at the Spokane Arena.
