‘Nip/ Tuck’ alternative to Olympics
For grown-ups only, and possibly for twisted grown-ups only, “Nip/Tuck,” on FX at 10, never fears going over the top.
Tonight, this drama about two Miami plastic surgeons features a man who wants breast implants. This might have something to do with his being married to a breast cancer survivor.
He’s played by the witty J.K. Simmons, who starred on “Oz” and plays a shrink on “Law & Order.”
Another story line involves one of those life-size blow-up dolls and, well, we’re not going there.
Anyhow, if you’re not going to visit Athens tonight, this is worth a look. Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon star.
Olympic Update
NBC’s prime-time festivities start at 8.
Tonight’s events include track and field medal finals, beach volleyball and wrestling. Bob Costas hosts.
There’s also hour upon hour of other events coverage on NBC’s corporate siblings, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Bravo and Telemundo. Detailed schedules for all these stations are at nbcolympics.com. One final note: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” are both pre-empted for late-night Olympic coverage.
