Registration under way for new students

New student registration for Spokane Public Schools’ elementary students, including kindergartners, is under way.

Registration for new high school students begins Monday.

Parents should call their student’s school for times.

If your child will be attending Arlington, Sheridan or Willard Elementary school, registration will be held outside because summer construction projects are still under way at those schools. Look for the balloons and a “new student registration” banner.

The building projects are scheduled to be finished before the first day of school, Sept. 7.

All new students need to bring a birth certificate or other verification of age. A Washington state certificate of immunization must be completed, with the month, day and year of inoculations.

More information about immunizations can be found on the school district’s Web site at www.spokaneschools.org/

HealthServices/Immunization.stm or by calling the district’s health services department at 354-7298.

Montessori to hold open house

Southside Montessori Elementary School, a private school at the west end of the Manito United Methodist Church building at 33rd and Grand Boulevard, will have on open house from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Children in grades 1 through 3 will be enrolled.

Those interested can attend the open house or call 624-1316 for an appointment to view the school.
