Chiefs wither in 2nd period
PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan – The Spokane Chiefs got off on the wrong foot on their East Division road trip, falling to the Prince Albert Raiders 5-2 on Tuesday night in Western Hockey League play.
Kyle Chipchura totaled two goals and one assist for Prince Albert, which had a four-goal second period.
Spokane travels to Saskatoon tonight for a game that begins at 5:30.
The Chiefs will be without leading scorer Chad Klassen tonight and Thursday, as he will be playing for the WHL team in the Russia Challenge. They also may be without defenseman Scott Lynch, who suffered a shoulder injury in the third period Tuesday.
Spokane has also lost the services of defenseman Matt McCue for 8-to-10 weeks with a broken ankle after being checked from behind Saturday by Tri-City’s Marc Connors. Connors was suspended for two games by the WHL.
