Police won’t charge Batman protester

Associated Press

LONDON — A man who dressed as Batman and climbed onto a balcony at Buckingham Palace to demand more rights for divorced fathers will face no charges, police said Tuesday.

Jason Hatch, of Fathers 4 Justice, breached palace security with his four-hour protest on the palace balcony on Sept. 13, but police told him that he would not be charged.

“We had no intentions to cause anybody distress or harm and all our stuff is nonviolent. It’s peaceful, and I didn’t hurt anybody,” said Hatch.

Hatch, 32, is divorced and has been fighting for 3 1/2 years for more access to his young son and daughter.

The stunt led to one good result, he said: His ex-wife has agreed to let him watch his children perform in their school play next week.
