The Bs
Bi-County: With the addition of Northwest Christian and the return of Lind-Ritzville to the Bi-Co, the league has expanded to 18 league games. The league schedule begins Friday, with Wilbur-Creston at Davenport, Liberty at NWC, Odessa at Reardan and Sprague-Harrington at Valley Christian. NWC’s boys finished second in the State 1A tournament last year, and lost a large part of that team, but received some transfers from Valley Christian, including Bi-Co first-teamer Josh Grewe. … Those hoping Almira/Coulee- Hartline’s girls would fade to obscurity after losing head coach Scott Isaak and 30 points a game from Sheena Henderson and Bailee Clark were disappointed to see the Warriors open up under new coach Mike Correia with a three-point win at Whitman County contender Tekoa-Oakesdale. … When Sprague-Harrington’s boys beat St. George’s 49-46 on Tuesday, it snapped a 32-game Falcons losing streak dating back to an overtime win over Rosalia on Dec. 21, 2002. Panorama: St. George’s lost the Gimeno sisters, but the Dragons bring back three starters from last year’s State B champions. St. George’s aggressive non-league schedule brought the bad on Friday – a 29-point loss to 2004 third-place state finisher Kittitas, and the good on Saturday – a 10-point win over Riverside Christian, which finished fourth last year. … Whitman County: In boys basketball, Asotin, St. John-Endicott and Tekoa-Oakesdale are undefeated. T-O, third in last year’s State B tourney, visits Colfax on Friday in what looks to be a close matchup. Among girls, unbeaten Garfield-Palouse travels to Pomeroy on Friday.
