Associated Press

Top-ranked teams aren’t solo shows, and star Seimone Augustus sure has plenty of help around her with the LSU Tigers.

Augustus scored 22 points to lead No. 1 LSU past No. 13 Minnesota 75-67 in women’s basketball Tuesday night in Minneapolis.

Temeka Johnson had 18 points and a season-high 13 assists, and Sylvia Fowles added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers (9-0), who have defeated three ranked teams this year.

Janel McCarville scored a career-high 31 points to go with 13 rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Gophers (8-2).

Men

(7) Duke 88, Illinois-Chicago 55: At Durham, N.C., Shelden Williams had 23 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots to lead the Blue Devils (7-0) to a victory over the Flames (3-4). J.J. Redick added 21 points for the Blue Devils. Duke shot 49 percent and used a 21-0 run spanning halftime to turn the game into a rout.

Former coach indicted

A former junior college basketball coach was indicted on charges that he provided false academic information about his athletes to Division I schools looking to recruit the players. The indictment also charges former Barton County (Kan.) Community College head coach Ryan Wolf with getting his players grants they were not qualified to receive and campus jobs that paid them for work they did not perform.

Memphis forward suspended

Memphis forward Sean Banks was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. Banks, the Tigers’ second-leading scorer this season, was the Conference USA freshman of the year last season.
