Bonnie Black
Cheney
No service will be held for Bonnie B. Black, 78, at her request.
Mrs. Black, who was born in Spokane, died last Monday.
She grew up in Deer Park and graduated from Deer Park High School.
She married Grover Black in 1953, and they owned and operated the A&W restaurant in Cheney and farmed in Moses Lake and Cheney.
They built a summer home on Lake Pend Oreille at Bayview, Idaho.
Mrs. Black enjoyed shopping, crafts and horseback riding.
Her husband died Dec. 3.
Survivors include four children, Lynn Ham of Olympia, Terry Goodrich of Spokane Valley, and Daryl and Dale Black, both of Moses Lake; a sister, Betty Bowman; a brother, Billy Barnes; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jonelle Widener
Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Jonelle Myrene Widener, 61, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Widener, who was born in Chicago, died Thursday.
She grew up in Chicago and received a master’s degree from Aurora University in 1988.
She served as vice president of the Commonwealth Edison Electric Co. until retiring from the position and moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1993.
She owned Jonni’s Home and Body in the Spokane Market Place and specialized in bath and body products.
Miss Widener was the chairman of the Kootenai County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board and was a past local government commissioner.
Survivors include two sisters.
Reta (Martzall) Gibson
Spokane
Memorial service for Reta L. (Martzall) Gibson, 66, will be today at 11 a.m. at Schanzenbach Funeral Home, Chewelah.
Mrs. Gibson, who died Wednesday, was born in Ford, Wash.
She grew up in Springdale, Wash., and was a 41-year resident of Colville.
She attended Springdale High School, and in 1956 married John Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson worked for The Spokesman-Review and various medical and health-care services.
She enjoyed family outings, including fishing, camping, hunting, swimming and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, John; three daughters, Cindy Dahl and Tammy and Tina Gibson; three sisters, Erma Kuntz, Loretta Odynski and Linda Cahill; a brother, Allen Matherly; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lorraine Avery
Spokane
Memorial service for D. Lorraine Avery, 88, was Friday at 10 a.m. at Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Avery, who was born in Motley, Minn., died last Monday.
She came to Spokane in the 1920s and graduated from North Central High School in 1933. She also attended Spokane Community College.
She marred Edward Avery in 1946.
Mrs. Avery was a homemaker and also worked for Angelo’s Florist for five years, retiring in the mid-1980s.
She was a member of Silver Lanes Bowling League for 30 years.
Her husband died in 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Dolar of Arizona City, Ariz., and Glenna Franzen of Greenboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Robert Nordin
Rathdrum, Idaho
Memorial service for Robert G. Nordin, 54, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nordin, who was born in Tekoa, Wash., died Wednesday.
He grew up in St. Maries and played football and was a state wrestling champion at St. Maries High School, where he graduated in 1969.
Mr. Nordin married Carlene Fields in 1968. They divorced in 1975.
He married Sherri Trumble in 1977.
He attended trade schools and worked at various Safeway locations for 20 years.
When the St. Maries Safeway closed in 1987, he purchased the Valley Market, formerly Ray’s Meat Market and operated the business until 1991.
Mr. Nordin and his wife operated Grandma’s Attic, a secondhand collectible store, until 1990 and moved to Rathdrum in 1991.
He worked for C & R Plumbing in Coeur d’Alene and was recently employed by Mackin and Little Plumbing Inc. of Spokane.
Mr. Nordin enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a former member of numerous St. Maries fraternal and civic groups.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Jason Nordin of Post Falls and Angie High of Coeur d’Alene; a stepson, Bob Campbell of Rathdrum; four brothers, Edward and Sanford Nordin, both of St. Maries, Wayne Nordin of Elk River, Idaho, and Dennis Nordin of Lewiston; two sisters, Frances Schimpf of Portland and Ellen Whittman of Asotin, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.
Marvin Berg
Malden, Wash.
Graveside service for Marvin Berg, 84, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Pine City (Wash.) Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at the Malden Community Church at noon. Schanzenbach Funeral Home, Rosalia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Berg, who died Wednesday, was born in Latah.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1938. He was a bus driver for Dorin Bus Lines before entering the Army during World War II. He received the American Theater Service, Good Conduct and Victory medals.
After the war, Mr. Berg began a long career working for Mobil Oil Corp. as a maintenance engineer for its service stations and bulk oil facilities in the Northwest.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth; two daughters, Rilla Babits of Salmon, Idaho, and Sharon Bartel of Leavenworth, Wash.; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Malden Community Church.
Robert Powers
Harrison, Idaho
Service for Robert C. Powers, 80, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries with burial at the Harrison City Cemetery. Memorial gathering will at the Harrison EMT Building.
Mr. Powers, who was born in Madison, S.D., died Wednesday.
He grew up and attended school in South Dakota and Idaho, and enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served for six years.
Mr. Powers then worked as an electrician in Venice, Calif., and in 1953 married Eleanor Lysinger.
He began working for General Telephone in 1949 and worked his way up in the company to became a claims adjuster in the legal department.
He retired in 1979 and moved to Harrison and built a home there.
His wife died in August. Mr. Powers was a member of the ATOM Club, unavailable what this is. the Harrison Veterans of Foreign Wars, the St. Maries Bowling Association and the St. Maries Golf Association. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Powers of Camarillo, Calif., and Pat Powers of Encinitas, Calif.; a sister, Gloria Roberts of Tempe, Ariz.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
