Don’t miss the party bus

Driving to the bar on New Year’s Eve proves one of two things about a person: Either a) brain cell retention isn’t the fool’s strong suit, or b) dodging cars in “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” lost its luster after the first 100 hours of gameplay.

Either way, it’s better not to try so hard to prove Darwin right.

That’s where Spokane Scenic Tours comes in.

Tonight the organization plans to shuttle people in full disco style – dance floor and all – from the downtown Howard Johnson Inn, to three bars in the Spokane area, and back.

Better yet, it’s free.

“This service is for people to come in, enjoy the comeraderie, and get around safely to the fun spots without having to use their cars,” said driver Jerome Green.

Sponsors from all over Spokane County are splitting the bill for the service. Some of them have donated gifts which will be given to all riders.

Others are just throwing the parties. The stops are: The Season Ticket, 1221 N. Howard St., at 8:15 p.m.; BLUZ at the Bend, 2721 N. Market St., at 9:30 p.m.; Bottom’s Up, 13921 E. Trent Ave., at 11 p.m.

Space is limited, so call Spokane Scenic Tours at 625-9622 or Howard Johnson Inn, 838-6630 for tickets.
