Oregon police find bones in driver’s trunk

Associated Press

PORTLAND — Police found a decaying human skull and leg bone rattling around in the car of a Corbett man who had allegedly been drinking and driving.

The bones were found in a car driven by 21-year-old Ryan Meyers, whose vehicle rolled over at about 2:30 p.m., just east of Gresham, according to Lt. Michael Shults, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

“Detectives are working backward to talk with other people who may have handled the bones,” Shults told The Oregonian newspaper. “The remains appeared to be pretty old.”

Shults said the bones will be examined by the Multnomah County medical examiner.

Meyers, who was booked into the Justice Center Jail and later released, was convicted of being a minor in possession of alcohol in December 2001. He was arrested for driving under the influence by Troutdale police in December 2003.
