Brophy qualifies for Women’s Amateur

Notre Dame golfer Katie Brophy, a 2002 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, shot a 74 at Pumpkin Ridge in suburban Portland on Wednesday to qualify for the USGA’s Women’s Amateur Championship.

The championship will be played at The Kahkwa Club in Erie, Penn., on Aug. 9-15.

Basketball

The University of Washington has been selected as one of eight sites to host the first and second rounds of the 2005 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Bank of America Arena on the UW campus in Seattle will host games on March 19 and 21.

Last year, Washington hosted the women’s NCAA West Regional.

There will be two games in both first-round sessions on March 19 and one, two-game second-round session on March 21.
