To Yoko, the idea of gay marriage isn’t a no-no

And the latest crusader for gay rights is … Yoko Ono? Ono has joined the chorus in support of gay marriage by recording “Every Man Has a Man Who Loves Him,” a gay-friendly version of a song she wrote nearly a quarter-century ago.

It’s a remake of “Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him,” which was included on her last album with ex-Beatle husband John Lennon before he was killed in 1980.

“I should think that people would be more interested in politics and all that is happening, rather than two lovebirds who are looking to wed,” said Ono, who has become an unlikely hit in dance clubs at the age of 71.

“I think it’s very nice that in an age when love is so scarce that people are willing to gamble on getting married.”

A spokesman for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center in New York said any gesture of support from a public figure is appreciated.

“If it were Britney Spears doing this, it would have a larger connection? Sure,” said Ector Simpson, the gay center’s director of cultural programs. “Does it have some value? Yes.”

We’ll have to start calling her Racy Gray

Eccentric singer Macy Gray fulfilled a promise by performing nude at her concert Monday night in London — for a good cause, that is.

Gray, 33, appeared naked behind a chair onstage during a rendition of Nina Simone‘s “Feeling Good,” where she was photographed for a book set to be released next year to raise funds for AIDS in Africa.

“Macy Gray was fantastic, really energetic,” one fan said afterward. “She really captured the audience’s heart when she came onstage naked.”

Wham, bam, he’s out of there, man

Comeback-minded British pop singer George Michael has shut down a new chat room on his Web site after contributors complained the 41-year-old looked old and overweight and criticized his recent music.

In a message posted on his site, Michael said the negativity was bad for him, his fans and his music. “Those of you that want to carry on the media’s work will have to do it somewhere else, I suppose,” he wrote.

Replied one poster: “It’s a fans’ forum, it’s freedom of speech, and I don’t think it’s down to George to take his ball home and say, ‘I’m not playing any more.’ “

Just another hip-hop cop stop

Rapper Jadakiss faces misdemeanor weapon and drug charges after police discovered two concealed, loaded handguns and marijuana in his recreational vehicle.

An off-duty officer in Fayetteville, N.C., stopped the RV on Monday after he spotted someone throwing firecrackers from the window, according to police reports. The officer spotted the marijuana and asked for permission to search the vehicle.

Jadakiss, whose real name is Jason T. Phillips, was the only one of the eight people in the vehicle to be charged.

Like they say, it takes a Simpson

Pop queen Jessica Simpson has become the unlikely spark for an economic boom in a small Argentine village.

The singer has been seen out and about in colorful wraps made in impoverished Florencio Varela, just outside of Buenos Aires — and now fans are clamoring to buy replicas, at $200 a pop.

Said Simpson’s mother, Tina: “The kids in (the) village can eat, and they can go to schools that they couldn’t go to. She changed this village.”
