U-Pick Lavender Weekends – Will be held today through Sunday, and July 23-25 and 30-Aug. 1, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Leisure Lavender Farm, 3529 N. Lynden in Otis Orchards. South Pend Oreille County Garden Tour – Sponsored by Washington State University Master Gardeners, Saturday, .Learn how to grow lots of veggies on a small lot, and find our how a firewise landscape can protect a home. Meet at 9 a.m. at the WSU Waterwise Demonstration Garden at Create Place, 900 W. Fourth in Newport. Registration is $5, with proceeds supports WSU Master Gardener and Pend Oreille County Extension programs. Bring a sack lunch. Call 509-447-2401.

Herbology Field Trip – Sponsored by Community Colleges of Spokane, Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Bring notebook, pen, ziploc bag, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, camera, sack lunch and water. Cost is $26 (includes guides). Pre-registration is required by calling 279-6000.

Spokane in Bloom Garden Tour - This Inland Empire Gardeners event will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at six North Side gardens and two special bonus stops. Tickets are $7 and will be available the day of the tour at any of the gardens or may be purchased ahead of time at participating nurseries. The participating gardens are at 15720 N. Gleneden Drive; 412 W. Hazard Road; 16008 N. Cirrus Court; 7711 N. Panorama Drive; 8615 N. Northview Court; and 8721 N. Kensington Drive. There will be vendors at each garden. The special bonus stops include Caterina Winery, 905 N. Washington, with talks every hour from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., wine tasting for the day of the tour is $5; and Spokane MarketPlace, 809 N. Seventh Annual Pond Tour - Sponsored by Inland Empire Water Garden and Koi Society, Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., this self-guided tour will include six ponds in and around Spokane. There is a bonus pond near Cheney, too. See a variety of ponds built by both amateurs and professionals, and learn about the joys of water gardening. Admission is $7 for adults, with ages 12 and under free. Ticket booklets containing maps and directions to each pond can be purchased at most major garden and pet centers, or you can call 325-2882.
