Lisa: a daughter like Hilton would be heartbreak hotel
Life after Elvis hasn’t gone to the hound dogs for the Presley women. In the August issue of Vogue, three generations of Presleys — Elvis’ ex-wife, Priscilla, their daughter, Lisa Marie, and Lisa Marie’s daughter, Danielle Riley — candidly discuss their lives. Lisa Marie, 36, is working on her second album, a follow-up to 2003’s “To Whom It May Concern.”
She expressed relief that her teenage daughter — who goes by her middle name, Riley — hadn’t turned out like hotel heiresses Paris and Nicky Hilton (of whom she once said, “Those two are the epitome of what my mother raised me not to be. … Maybe it’s the bleach that fascinates people.”)
Priscilla isn’t so quick to judge.
“Some celebrities’ children have done very well, and some are still struggling,” she said. “It’s a very difficult position to be in.”
Riley, who is just beginning a modeling career, remains unfazed by the innate Presley fame.
“My mom isn’t famous to me,” she said. “She’s just my mom.”
Like they say, charity begins at home
The New York Daily News reports that Paris Hilton has quietly dropped her lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon, who circulated a tape of their bedroom escapades, in exchange for a cut of the profits.
Salomon and the video’s distributor have reportedly agreed to pay Hilton about $400,000 plus a percentage of the sales of the tape, “One Night in Paris.” Said a Hilton pal, “She has insisted that an ample portion of the proceeds are donated to charity.”
And now we all know her cup size
Gwyneth Paltrow caused quite a stir at a recent New York film screening when she arrived in a low-cut outfit with a series of circular blotches across her back.
It turned out the 31-year-old Oscar winner had undergone an ancient Chinese healing treatment called “cupping,” which involves placing glass cups over points on the back and then heating them to create a vacuum. Devotees say it unblocks lymph nodes along the spine, which in turn helps the body to work more efficiently.
Om-m-m-m, my!
Nature lover Ashley Judd was locked out of her cabin at a hotel in California’s Yosemite National Park, sans clothes, when she leaned outside her door to get her yoga mat and the door slammed behind her.
Judd had to cover herself up with the mat and go to the lobby to get a new key. It was only later that she realized that not only was she naked, but also her face had been covered in pimple cream.
He’s getting to be Dr. Do-too-much
The Australian government has cleared “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin of allegations that he got too close to penguins, a seal and humpback whales in Antarctica while making a documentary.
Irwin had previously sparked an uproar for holding his baby in one arm while feeding large crocodiles inside a pen at a zoo. Critics called it reckless, but he said there was no danger to his son.
Suppose there’s a 24-carrot award?
Hip-hop king Andre 3000 of OutKast and actress Alicia Silverstone have been voted the “World’s Sexiest Vegetarians” in an online poll conducted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
They beat out competition including moody British singer Morrissey and movie stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Tobey Maguire.
