Margaret Bumgarner
Spokane
Memorial service for Margaret (Stinchfield) Bumgarner, 93, will be today at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Wash. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bumgarner, who died July 10, was born in Hoquiam, Wash.
After completing high school in 1927 at age 16, she enrolled at the University of Washington, where she was active in academic and sorority life. She graduated in 1932 with a degree in education and home economics, and began teaching at the high school in Ferndale, Wash., where she stayed for two years. She taught science and home economics, as well as coached tennis and a championship girls basketball team.
Mrs. Bumgarner later moved to Davenport and continued teaching at Davenport High School.
In 1936 she married Vern Bumgarner and retired from teaching.
Mrs. Bumgarner enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and hand weaving. She also enjoyed hiking and camping.
She was an active member of Davenport First Presbyterian Church, Chapter N of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, served many years on the library board, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include a son, Richard Bumgarner of Hanover, Md.; a daughter, Sally Bumgarner of Spokane; a brother, Bill Stinchfield of Shelton, Wash.; and two grandsons.

Mary Lou (Morse) Cassidy
Spokane
Memorial service for Mary Lou (Morse) Cassidy, 78, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Vancouver (Wash.) Funeral Chapel.
Ms. Cassidy died July 10.
Born in Bartlesville, Okla., she moved to Washington state during World War II. She attended Washington State University for two years before leaving to marry and raise a family.
She returned to college in her 40s and graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Long Beach (Calif.) State University.
After graduating from college, Ms. Cassidy returned to the Pacific Northwest, where she began working as a paralegal at Foster Pepper and Shefelman in Seattle, specializing in municipal bonds. In this capacity she served on the Committee on Legal Assistants of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and worked with various municipalities in Washington.
When she retired in 1992 she relocated to Spokane, where she volunteered as a guardian ad litem for foster children and served on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity-Spokane.
In 2001 she received the Golden Hammer award for her contributions in grant writing and database management with Habitat.
Ms. Cassidy enjoyed reading, playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include four children, Robert Cassidy of Santa Rosa, Calif., Christine Cassidy of Torrance, Calif., Susan Cassidy of Spokane and Colleen Cassidy of Berkeley, Calif.; a brother, John Morse; a sister, Judy Prichard; and five grandchildren.

Helen Chambers
Aberdeen, Wash.
No service was held for Helen Wilcox Chambers, 90, at her request. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Chambers, who was born in Lancaster, N.H., died July 3 in Aberdeen.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane from 1947 to 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Longenecker of Tokeland, Wash.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
James Geroux
Spokane
Private service will be held for James Lucian Geroux, 82. Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Geroux, a lifelong resident of Spokane, died Saturday.
He served in the Army during World War II as a private.
Mr. Geroux was a warehouseman for 20 years for Tull and Gibbs, where he also made furniture and set up displays.
Survivors include a brother, Harry Geroux of Spokane.
Forrest Pierce
Seattle
No service will be held for Forrest Malcolm Pierce, 54, at his request. English Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pierce, who was born in Kellogg, died July 7.
He enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, and five daughters, Kara, Cassie, Shawna, Shelly and Lori; his father and stepmother, Malcolm and Mary Lou; and three sisters, Margaret, Celia and Hilah.
