Rangers 3, Angels 2: Ryan Drese threw seven solid innings in another impressive home start, and Michael Young’s tiebreaking double sent Texas to a win over Anaheim at Arlington. Alfonso Soriano homered for the A.L. West-leading Rangers, who have their best record through 92 games, one more win than in 1996, when they won their first division title. Anaheim lost for the fifth time in six games.

White Sox 14, Indians 0: Mark Buehrle retired his first 19 batters and pitched a two-hitter, facing the minimum 27 batters to lead Chicago to a win in Cleveland. Buehrle (10-3), who was miffed he didn’t make the All-Star team earlier this month, didn’t allow a runner until Omar Vizquel lined a 3-2 pitch out of the reach of shortstop Jose Valentin with one out in the seventh.Carlos Lee homered twice and Valentin added a two-run shot for the White Sox.

Orioles 10, Red Sox 5: Pedro Martinez gave up a season-high eight runs and lost for the first time since May 16 as Miguel Tejada drove in five runs to lead Baltimore to a win in Boston. David Newhan was 4 for 5 with an inside-the-park, two-run homer, a double and two singles for the Orioles.

Yankees 10, Blue Jays 3: Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer and Enrique Wilson also connected as New York beat up on visiting Toronto. Despite playing minus injured Derek Jeter and ailing Jason Giambi, the Yankees sent Toronto to its eighth loss in nine games.

Twins 12, Devil Rays 2: At Minneapolis, backup catcher Henry Blanco went 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs, helping Minnesota beat visiting Tampa Bay.

Tigers 4, Royals 2: Ivan Rodriguez, Rondell White and Marcus Thames homered to lead Detroit past visiting Kansas City.
