Shock prevail

Swin Cash had 16 points and a season-high 14 rebounds to lead the Detroit Shock over the Charlotte Sting 63-53 Friday night in Auburn, Hills, Mich.

Ruth Riley, named to join Cash on the U.S. Olympic team earlier in the week, also had 16 for Detroit. Cheryl Ford added nine points and nine rebounds for the Shock, winners for just the second time in six games.

Mystics 65, Lynx 61: Rookie Alana Beard scored 23 points and made two free throws with 1:11 remaining to lead Washington past visiting Minnesota.

Sparks 70, Comets 670: Mwadi Mabika had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Los Angeles had four players in double figures in a victory over visiting Houston.
