But to us, there’s nothing like ‘Lady and the Tramp’

Director/writer M. Night Shyamalan is known for his suspenseful films: “The Sixth Sense,” “Unbreakable,” “Signs.” But what movies keep him and the actors from his new thriller, “The Village,” on the edge of their seats?
• Shyamalan: “Probably ‘The Birds’ or ‘Diabolique.’ ‘Dial M for Murder’ was pretty suspenseful for, like, the first two-thirds of it.”
• Joaquin Phoenix: ” ‘The Exorcist.’ There’s just a sense of realism. The sound in that film is unbelievable.”
• Sigourney Weaver: ” ‘Psycho.’ The images in watching that film are so indelible. And the whole set-up — I think it’s such a shrewd story.”
• William Hurt: ” ‘Ordet.’ Because you don’t know what’s going to happen, and you want something to happen.”
• Bryce Dallas Howard: ” ‘The Birds.’ Alfred Hitchcock was able to turn these seemingly harmless creatures into monsters.”
• Adrien Brody: “The scariest movie I saw recently was ‘Fahrenheit 9/11.’ It’s pretty scary, the world we live in.”
So which is mightier: Kabbalah, or the dollah?
The Kabbalah craze started by the likes of Madonna is trickling down to a younger generation of stars.
Lindsay Lohan, 18, was recently spotted sporting the trendy religion’s must-have accessory: a red string bracelet meant to protect the wearer from the evil eye.
But the bigger news for Lohan involves green: According to her agents, she’s such a hot property these days that she can command $7.5 million for a movie.
Not at all like a virgin
While Madonna may now be a wife, mother of two and outspoken spiritual crusader, former basketball star Dennis Rodman won’t let us forget her wilder days.
She once faked a photo shoot to lure him into bed, Rodman tells The Toronto Star: “I walked down the hallway to her room, and we made love. After that she would call 10 times a day and say, ‘I want sex now, now, now!’ She’d want me to drop everything and have sex at the drop of a hat.”
Really, really like a virgin
Kirsten Dunst says she struggled to play sexually active women in such films as “Crazy/Beautiful” and “The Virgin Suicides” because she was still a virgin herself.
“I have had to act emotions I haven’t felt or experienced,” says the 22-year-old “Spider-Man 2” star, who recently split with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
“I’m not complaining, because this is what acting is all about. I’ve had my own way of dealing with it. I’m not a party girl or a dating girl, but a home girl. That’s what’s kept me sane.”
Choice tramps your parents don’t want you to be?
Who better to preside over awards such as “Choice Hissy Fit,” “Choice Liplock” and “Choice Movie Your Parents Didn’t Want You to See” than Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie?
The so-called “celebutants” from the Fox reality show “The Simple Life 2” will host this year’s Teen Choice Awards, Fox announced. The show, scheduled to be taped Aug. 8, will also include appearances by Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Usher and Ashton Kutcher.
