Stu Evey was an executive in charge of non-oil projects at Getty Oil in the late 1970s, and was looking for a big deal. He found one with ESPN, the groundbreaking all-sports cable TV network. Evey shepherded the idea into reality and was chairman of ESPN until Getty sold all of its assets to Texaco in 1984.

Evey moved back to his hometown of Spokane nine years ago, and has been looking for the next big deal ever since.
