Sacred gongs concerts

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will host a concert titled “A Calling of Angels with the Sounds of Sacred Gongs” on Friday. The concert will be repeated on June 13 at the Unity Church of Truth, at the corner of 29th and Bernard. Both shows begin at 7 p.m.

Many ancient cultures believe that the sacred gong instruments bring the presence of angels.

Richard Hite, a modern gong master and a licensed therapist who has used the instruments for healing and relief in hospitals and clinics, will perform.

Admission to Friday’s concert is $20; bring a pillow and blanket. The June 13 show costs $10.

Friday’s admission price includes an introductory talk to the temple’s workshop, “Sacred Sounds and Healing Wisdom: The Holopathic Way to Wholeness, Integrating Eastern Wisdom and Western Science,” which will also be held Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and continues next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 13 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The workshop will encompass yoga-based exercises for pain, tension and stress; skills to change unhealthy addictions and desires; and ways to make healing entertaining. Cost for the three-day workshop is $175.
