NEW FACES

HomeStreet Bank has recently hired Char Schiene as a residential loan officer and builder services agent. Schiene has over 28 years of experience in the mortgage industry and previously worked for Windermere Mortgage Services.

Scott Carter has recently been hired by Blaine & Co. as a commercial insurance agent and manager of the Coeur d’Alene office. Carter has worked as a commercial underwriting manager for Safeco Insurance and as the branch manager for Unigard Insurance Group.

Blaine & Co. has recently hired Stacey Gerry. She has over 16 years of customer service experience and is a graduate of Gonzaga University.

Ryan Yahne has recently been hired by the construction law department at Dunn & Black. Yahne is a 2003 graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law and a graduate of the University of Washington. He will represent contractors, subcontractors, owners and sureties in public and private construction.

Brix Restaurant and Nightclub in Coeur d’Alene has recently hired Joe McCarthy as executive chef. McCarthy was previously executive chef at Mirabeau Park Hotel & Convention Center and studied at the New England Culinary Institute.

Keith Baldwin has recently been hired at Valley Hospital & Medical Center as chief operating officer. For the past 11 years, Baldwin has been the chief executive officer of Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake and has over 24 years in hospital administration.

KUDOS

Robert Pace, an associate principal of Bernardo-Wills Architects, P.C. has recently passed Leeds Certification. Pace has been with the company for 10 years.

Teresa Brum, director of the Office of City-County Historic Preservation, has recently received the State of Washington Historic Preservation Officer’s Award for Outstanding Achievement. Brum received this award for career achievement.

The United States Department of Energy has recently awarded Riverwalk Point the Power Player Award.

The public relations firm Strategic Niche has recently received an award of excellence at the 2004 SPARC Awards presented by the Spokane Public Relations council. The firm received thes award in the communication process/communication training category.

APPOINTED/ELECTED

Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest has recently added Chuck Lund to its board of directors. Lund is assistant market business consultant at Allstate Insurance. Lund has been a volunteer with Junior Achievement for more than six years.

Inland Northwest Land Trust has recently named the following people to its board: Bill Hendrix of St. Jude Medical; Gary Herron of Northern Quest Casino; and Janice Loux of B.D.O. Seidman, L.L.P.

The Spokane Club has recently elected the following to its board of trustees for 2004-2005: president, Don Rodman, C.P.A.; president-elect, John Richards of U.S. Bank; vice president, Jack Bury of Murphy, Banz and Bury; secretary Jeff Johnson of Kiemle & Hagood; treasurer, Jack Heath of Washington Trust Bank; and ex-officio, Ray Lawton of Lawton Printing.

Coffman Engineers has recently promoted Jennifer Van Vleet to the position of vice president of corporate marketing. Van Vleet has been with Coffman for five years and has a master’s degree in international management from Whitworth College.

PHILANTHROPY

Marsh Spokane has recently given $150,000 to local nonprofit organizations. Some of the recipients are the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce, which received $30,000; Hospice House of Spokane, $25,000; and United Way of Spokane, $16,000.
