Yet another bitter pill to swallow for Limbaugh
Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, already plagued by a drug scandal, now is headed for divorce court. Limbaugh and his wife, Marta, “mutually decided to end their marriage of 10 years,” according to a statement released by his publicist.
It was the third marriage for both Limbaugh, 53, and his 45-year-old wife, who shared a $24 million oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach. They were wed in May 1994 at the home of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who officiated the ceremony.
In October, Limbaugh entered drug rehabilitation because of an addiction to prescription painkillers.
At the same time, West Palm Beach prosecutors announced they were investigating whether Limbaugh illegally went “doctor shopping” to obtain the pills. The case is on hold while an appeals court decides whether the seizure of Limbaugh’s medical records violated privacy laws.
Last month, Limbaugh took out full-page ads in two Florida newspapers to attack prosecutors for what he called a politically motivated investigation. He also regularly defends himself during his show.
Now they know the true meaning of ‘scream’
Courteney Cox Arquette and her husband and “Scream” co-star, David Arquette, are the proud parents of a baby girl named Coco, their spokeswoman said Monday.
Cox, who turns 40 today, gave birth on Sunday, about a week before her scheduled delivery date, according to People magazine. Her “Friends” TV character struggled to have a child, and she has disclosed that she suffered several miscarriages in real life.
After the karaoke, everyone was in pain
Anna Nicole Smith, recovering from two broken ribs she suffered in a fall from a watercraft while filming her TV reality show, still showed up at an AIDS benefit for children Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
Smith said she was “very much in pain” when she arrived, but added: “I love children. I’m doing this for the kids.” During her visit, Smith also participated in three hours of “celebrity karaoke.”
Replaced, of course, by his under-Diddy
Hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, who stars in the hit Broadway revival of “A Raisin in the Sun,” has been sidelined by a stomach ailment.
Combs left during intermission of the Saturday matinee and missed the Saturday and Sunday evening shows. He hopes to return tonight.
Sounds like your typical Dogg show
Snoop Dogg made a surprise performance at Maxim magazine’s annual “Hot 100” party in Las Vegas on Saturday night, playing for about an hour to a crowd packed with celebrities including Paris Hilton, Vin Diesel and Josh Duhamel, star of the NBC show “Las Vegas.”
About halfway through the show, the rapper pulled reality star/hotel heiress Hilton — who made this year’s “Hot 100” list — up on stage and paraded her in front of the crowd, praising her beauty.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you
Rapper DMX, meanwhile, has landed in the legal doghouse with a company that claims he breached an agreement to promote its line of high-end doggie-wear.
Amusing Diversions Inc. says in court papers that when it signed the deal with DMX (aka Earl Simmons) based on his hit “Get at Me Dog,” it was unaware of his involvement in dogfighting or his conviction on animal cruelty charges after 14 pit bulls were found living in filthy conditions at his New Jersey home.
