Yes, ‘Scrubs’ will return
Q: I would like to know if “Scrubs” will be back next year, or has it been canceled? I also have a question about “NYPD Blue.” Is Dennis Franz, who plays Detective Andy Sipowicz, married in real life to the actress who used to play the blond civilian assistant on the show? Or were they just married on the show? Thank you. — Fran W.
A: “Scrubs” will not only be back for the 2004-2005 season, but NBC plans to have it back for the following season as well. That means we can look forward to seeing John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, et al., at least through 2005-2006.
Dennis Franz is married to the former Joanie Zeck, with whom he has two daughters.
Gail O’Grady played the civilian aide, Donna Abandando, on “NYPD Blue” from 1993 to 1996. She currently stars as Helen Pryor on “American Dreams.” She was never married to Franz or Sipowicz. In the latter instance, you may be thinking of Sharon Lawrence (“Word of Honor”), who played Assistant District Attorney Sylvia Costas, who married Andy, bore him a son and was later shot to death by one of the criminals she prosecuted.
Incidentally, in real life, Lawrence and her husband were wed in the same Greek Orthodox church in Los Angeles that was used to film Sylvia and Andy’s wedding ceremony in New York.

Q: Is it true that Jamie Lee Curtis’ English husband is of royal blood but won’t discuss his family ties for some reason? — Greta M.
A: Jamie Lee Curtis is married to actor/musician Christopher Guest (“This Is Spinal Tap,” “Mighty Wind”), whose full name is Lord Christopher Haden-Guest, Fifth Baron of Saling in Essex.
Guest says he doesn’t discuss his ties to British aristocracy because he feels this is something he was born into and has no relevance to anything he’s achieved on his own.

Q: Two years ago I read an article that downplayed any connection between the Oklahoma City bombing (in 1995) and the bombings on 9/11. But recently I heard that Hollywood was planning to do a movie that links (the two events). Do you have any information on this movie? — H. DeV.
A: The FX Network is producing a film based on the book “The Third Terrorist” by Jayna Davis, a former Oklahoma City TV reporter. It focuses on her investigation into an alleged link between American terrorist Timothy McVeigh and a group of Iraqi immigrants living in Oklahoma City in 1995. The producers say that Davis had raised an important question that everyone ignored, and the film will ask why.
