Police to attend meeting about area’s problems
A meeting to discuss problems in the Second Avenue and Cedar Street area will be 9 a.m. today at the Pemco Insurance Building, 1500 W. Fourth Ave.
Concerns include prostitution and drug activity, graffiti, vandalism, vehicle prowling and theft, panhandling and transients, and neglected or poorly managed properties.
The purpose of the meeting is to organize work groups to address the problems.
Representatives of the Spokane Police’s Crime Prevention Unit, Crime Analysis, Planning and Research, Patrol Division, COPS, neighborhood resource officers, and other government and nonprofit organizations will listen to citizens’ concerns and help identify resources for assistance.

Neighborhood council meetings
• The Manito/Cannon Hill councils will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Wilson Elementary School, 911 W. 25th Ave.
• The Latah/Hangman Valley Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Tidyman’s on a hearing for Highway 195 and the Cheney-Spokane Road.
