Choir and marimba concert

Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, is hosting concert featuring Patrick Matsikenyiri, a musician with the United Methodist Church of Zimbabwe and retired faculty member of Africa University in Zimbabwe.

Matsikenyiri will lead the choir and marimba band during the church’s 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. For more information, call the church office at 466-1768.

Buddhist lecture

Bhante Seelawimala, a Theravadan monk and professor at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, Calif., will speak on the “Loving Kindness in the Buddhist Tradition” at the Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., Saturday at 7 p.m. A $5 donation is requested.

Bhante also will lead the “Introduction to Buddhism” free lecture at the temple on Sunday at 9:30 a.m., followed by the regular service at 10:30 a.m.
