Softball tourney food drive

Church teams in the Spokane Lutheran Softball League will host a softball tournament food drive — called Help Stomp Out Hunger! — Sunday to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank.

The tournament is free and open to the public. Players will donate one item or pound of food for each time a player gets on base at the Spokane Youth Sports Complex, 46th and Regal, from 1 to 6 p.m. Bring nonperishable food items. Call 251-1566 for more information.

Choir and marimba concert

Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, is hosting “A Celebration of Music and Life in the Spirit” during Sunday’s 9:30 a.m. worship service. Patrick Matsikenyiri, a musician with the United Methodist Church of Zimbabwe and retired faculty member of Africa University in Zimbabwe, will lead Covenant’s choir and marimba band. Church centennial celebration

Central Baptist Church is celebrating 100 years of worship with two special events open to the public. Next Saturday, the church will host a Centennial picnic at Audubon Park, at Northwest Boulevard and Milton, beginning at noon. Cost is $9 per person and $20 maximum for families.

The church is also hosting a homecoming worship service at 10 a.m. June 27, with a reception to follow at the church, 19 W. Shannon Ave.

Wednesday summer barbecue

The Summer Fun Club at River of Life Friends Church, 3263 E. 12th Ave., in Post Falls, is hosting a barbecue every Wednesday night through the summer. The evening will include singing, stories, games and crafts for children, and an adult study of “The Armor of a Christian” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call (208) 773-5014.
