What’s under Venus’ hat? Her flytrap, of course

The Athens Olympics are two months away, but tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams are already planning their on-court wardrobes. Serena wants to show off her new micro-mini shorts. Venus is more coy, saying, “I’d rather you wait and see.”

She added: “I plan everything around my outfits.”

While the Williams sisters haven’t been officially named to the U.S. Olympic team, they are considered a lock. They were in New York this week to see the prototype of a hat Venus designed for McDonald’s Olympic Champion Crew, the fast-food chain’s employees from all over the world who will be working in Athens.

She hopes the oversized newsboy cap is “more fun and urban and more out of the ordinary” than the visors and baseball caps she initially considered.

It’s not uncommon to see Venus wearing some sort of hat. “I don’t always pick up my brush,” she said with a laugh. “You’ll see my hair and it looks good but under that hat, it’s a minefield!”

Lenny’s willpower went up in smoke

Retro-rocker Lenny Kravitz says he kept a marijuana joint that he had shared with Mick Jagger as a souvenir — until temptation got the better of him.

“We were performing on the same stage once, and he invited me to go to his place afterwards,” Kravitz told the Croatian magazine Gloria. “We shared a joint, and I kept the rest of it for almost a year. It was a sign of respect.”

However, he said, “At one point I had no grass at home, so I smoked the rest of the joint I shared with Jagger.”

‘Bachelor’ romance falls flat

Yet another made-for-TV romance has been sacked, as New York Giants quarterback Jesse Palmer and the woman he chose on “The Bachelor” have broken up. Palmer, selected Jessica Bowlin from the 25 women competing for his affection on the show’s recent season.

He told Bowlin during last month’s finale that his “gut instinct” was telling him they were meant to spend their lives together.

On Thursday, the couple told the syndicated TV entertainment show “Extra” that they’d mutually agreed to end their relationship. Bowlin, a 22-year-old California law student, added: “With too much distance and too little time these were not ideal circumstances in which to start a relationship. Jesse is a great guy and has a wonderful family. Who knows what the future holds?”

For the 10-year-old, it was a dream come true

New Line Cinema executives are reportedly concerned about a scene in Nicole Kidman‘s upcoming movie “Birth” in which she bathes in the buff with a 10-year-old boy she believes is the reincarnation of her dead husband.

“You can find any movie with something that seems inappropriate,” a New Line spokesman told the New York Daily News. “It’s a dream sequence, like in ‘Rosemary’s Baby.’ “

At bedtime, there’s just something about Barrymore

Superstar couple Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake thrilled passengers onboard a recent flight from Los Angeles to Australia by throwing a pajama party.

“As soon as they got into the air, they changed into their free first-class pajamas and ordered a bottle of champagne,” a fellow passenger said. “People were going up to speak to them, and they seemed really happy.

“Cameron produced a travel version of the Chinese game Mah Jong and invited other first class passengers to join in. Then they watched their friend Drew Barrymore‘s film ‘50 First Dates’ before settling down for a nap.”
