Shadow survive thanks to Hite
The sights in Abbotsford, B.C. were similar for the Spokane Shadow soccer team. Brett Hite gets a pair of goals and the Shadow earn a late win against the Rangers.
Hite’s second goal of the night, in the fifth minute of the second overtime, was his 12th of the season and sent the Shadow (8-3-1, 25 points) to a 3-2 victory and moved them to within two points of first-place Cascade (9-2, 27 points).
“We pulled it off playing short-handed and it is nice to see that Brett continues to have a stellar season,” head coach Stuart Saunders said.
Skye Henderson opened the scoring in the 17th minute, off an assist by Hite. Hite then broke a 1-1 tie in the 38th minute with defender Will Flanagan registering the assist.
With the match knotted at two at regulation and through the first overtime, Dustin Allberry sent a pass to Hite in the 105th minute and the University of Washington-bound striker ended the game. Hite has tallied 29 points this season.
