Fake inspector steals woman’s wallet
Coeur d’Alene A man posing as a city official walked off with a woman’s wallet after entering her home for a phony inspection Monday. Police said a man posed as a building inspector and approached a woman on the 900 block of Fifth Street while she was doing yard work. He entered the home about 9:30 a.m. and left shortly afterward. The man left on foot toward Elm Street. The homeowner soon realized her wallet was stolen and several credit cards had been used. Coeur d’Alene Police said they have no reason to link the incident to a series of rapes in the area. The suspect is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes between age 38 and 42. He has a slender build, was clean-cut and shaven, and wore a yellow shirt, white shorts and brown shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department Tip Line at (208)769-2296.
