International show accepts painting by Patsy Parsons

An oil painting by Spirit Lake artist and teacher, Patsy Parsons, has been accepted into the 2004 Salon International Juried Art Exhibition at the Greenhouse Gallery of Art in San Antonio.

Parsons entry, “Light on the Steeple,” will compete against artwork from professional artists from 40 states and seven countries.

Locally her work can be seen at Angel’s Antiques and Fine Art in the Wigget Building in Coeur d’Alene.

Ian Dahlke and Frederick Taylor have been named to receive 2004 Steve Omi Memorial Scholarships.

The two area residents were chosen based on scholastic and athletic accomplishments.

Dahlke will receive $750. He is a recent graduate of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy and plans to attend Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., in the fall.

Taylor will receive $500 and will attend the University of Colorado in Boulder this fall.

The scholarship is named for a local U.S. masters swimmer, cyclist, triathlete and cross-country skier who died of cancer at the age of 35.

Chayne Piscitelli, Coeur d’Alene, graduated with highest honors last month and received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Montana State University.

He is a graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and the son of Mike and Nancy Piscitelli of Coeur d’Alene.

Allison Hein, Sagle, has been named as one of five state finalists in the recent second annual AAA Travel High School Challenge.

Hein, a spring graduate of Sandpoint High School, received $200, a commemorative AAA Centennial Atlas and a three-piece luggage set.

The event is a geography awareness competition which focuses on travel and tourist destinations.

Linsey Myers, Bonners Ferry, recently received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from the University of Montana in Missoula.

Myers is the daughter of Dan and Joan Myers.

Patrizia Mueller recently graduated magna cum laude and received a Bachelor of Science degree in international business and economics from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.

She is the daughter of Walter Mueller of Coeur d’Alene, and Jule Mueller of Richmond, Va.

• Area students were recently named to the dean’s list at the University of Montana.

Eligible students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and receive only grades of A or B in at least nine credits.

Jamie Libera is a junior studying health and wellness. She is a 2002 graduate of Lake City High School and the daughter of Lee and Doreen Libera of Coeur d’Alene.

Kai Sharbono, a human biology/pre-med student, is a 2002 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School.

Jessica Symbal, a pre-nursing student with a 4.0 g.p.a. She is the daughter of Russ and Theresa Symbal of Coeur d’Alene.

Hillary Burr, a 2003 graduate of Lake City High School, made the dean’s list in both fall and spring semesters this past school year at Carroll College in Helena.

Burr is a psychology and biology student and the daughter of Douglas Burr and Gwen Fransen, both of Coeur d’Alene.

• Army Cpl. Steven D. Freeman, a 2001 graduate of Post Falls High School, has been assigned to the Army Recruiting Station in Coeur d’Alene and is responsible for recruitment in Benewah County and along the Interstate 90 corridor in Kootenai and Shoshone Counties.

He has served with the Army for three years with other assignments as a parachute rigger, Headquarter Company, U.S. Army Garrison at Fork Polk, La.

He is the son of Nikki Maggio of Hayden.
