REC the Park – Riverside State Park’s third annual open house, Saturday, 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Events include: “Operation Family I.D.,” cards and fingerprinting provided by S.C.O.P.E. members; mountain bikes demos by REI; information on the park’s Junior Ranger program; bike rodeo and course with free bike helmets and inspection; guided horseback rides provided by Backcountry Horseman; guided mountain bike rides with the Fat Tire Bike Club; orienteering with the Eastern Washington Orienteering Club; boating safety presentation and inspection provided by Spokane County Sheriff Office Marine deputies; canoe and kayak demonstrations by Mountain Gear; off road vehicle safety clinic and demonstration; Civilian Conservation Corps presentation; and nature games and crafts. Tombstone and Gravesite History Tour – Sponsored by the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department, June 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants will meet at the lower lot of Pioneer Park, and tour historic Spokane homes and buildings as well as discovery the burial sites of those that lived and worked in the area.
