Royals 7, Rangers 6: At Arlington, Texas, Carlos Beltran and Matt Stairs each hit a three-run homer and Kansas City rallied from a five-run deficit for a victory over the Rangers. Mike Sweeney also homered for the Royals, who snapped a three-game skid.
Blue Jays 5, Twins 3: At Toronto, Miguel Batista, Jason Frasor and Terry Adams combined on a five-hitter, and the Blue Jays handed Minnesota starter Johan Santana his first loss in 20 starts.
Red Sox 7, Devil Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tim Wakefield allowed one run in seven innings, Mark Bellhorn hit a three-run homer and Boston beat Tampa Bay.
White Sox 4, Indians 2: At Cleveland, Jon Garland pitched seven strong innings and Chicago cooled off the Indians. Garland allowed one run and five hits while snapping the Indians’ five-game win streak.
Tigers 5, Athletics 1: At Oakland, Calif., Rondell White and Craig Monroe homered, and Jeremy Bonderman pitched seven innings to lead Detroit over the A’s.
Angels 1, Yankees 0 (11): At Anaheim, Calif., Adam Riggs drove in the game’s only run with a one-out bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Angels tripped New York.
