‘Frontline’ looks at ‘Jesus Factor’
On KSPS at 9, a “Frontline” rebroadcast offers an evenhanded examination of “The Jesus Factor” in the presidency of George W. Bush.
Like many Americans, the president is an evangelical Christian, and he often speaks of praying about the major decisions that he faces.
But how did he come to his faith? How directly does it affect the way he runs the country? And what are the political angles played by the evangelical movement?
Highlights
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” CBS at 8: Back-to-back episodes.
The first is a repeat investigating the execution of a businessman and his wife. The second, at 9, is a new one, in which Grissom and the team work to reconcile a rape victim’s story and physical evidence that begs to differ with her account.
“American Pie 2” (2001), Fox at 8: Jason Biggs stars in the saucy sequel, which will no doubt have to be cut to ribbons even for Fox broadcast standards. This time out, he and the gang rent a summer house at the beach for more hijinks.
It’s also possible Fox will pre-empt the movie for more “American Idol” reruns or specials.
“Friends,” NBC at 8: Two repeats — the $10,000 Pyramid and the series finale — separated by a 10-minute special called “The Adventures of Seinfeld and Superman.” Which, if memory serves, could have something to do with TV commercials.
“Never Been Kissed” (1999), WB at 8: Drew Barrymore stars as a newspaper reporter who goes undercover at a high school.
“Super Millionaire,” ABC at 10: $10 million is ABC’s final answer to sagging ratings.
“Without a Trace,” CBS at 10: Season finale.
A yacht is found floating in the harbor with only the dead captain aboard. What happened to his passengers?
And on a more personal note, is Anthony LaPaglia’s Jack really going to Chicago when the case is over?
“Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” NBC at 10: A rich man is murdered, and his family is a scary bunch. Repeat.
Family Fare
“Stuart Little” (1999), Family at 8: Michael J. Fox provides the voice of the mouse adopted by a family in this adaptation of the E.B. White classic. Geena Davis also stars.
Cable Cast
NBA playoffs, ESPN at 4: Games 7, New Jersey at Detroit.
“Wonder Boys” (2000), FX at 8: Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire and Francis McDormand top a great cast in Curtis Hanson’s film about a college professor in a slow-motion breakdown. Watch for Robert Downey Jr., terrific in a small part.
“Willard” (2003), Starz at 9: Crispin Glover is fascinatingly nuts in this little-seen horror remake about a man and his rats.
“Penn & Teller: Bull!” Showtime at 10: Everyone wants to look younger, but is there any truth to all the promises of medication and surgery? A look at the sources of “The Fountain of Youth.”
