Man convicted in slaying

EVERETT – A Snohomish County Superior Court jury took just six hours Wednesday to convict John Anderson of aggravated first-degree murder in the abduction, beating and killing of his former girlfriend, Rachel Burkheimer.

Anderson, 22, of Everett, faces life in prison without parole.

Snohomish County prosecutors alleged that Anderson killed the 18-year-old Marysville woman two years ago out of jealousy and the belief that she posed a threat to a gang he helped run.
