Medical Lake SCOPE moves

The Spokesman-Review

A grand opening for Medical Lake’s new Spokane County Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort (SCOPE) office is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office is at 111 W. Brooks Road, once occupied by the Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.

SCOPE moved from its Manila Road office near Espanola last month.

Medical Lake SCOPE has 16 volunteers and is recruiting new members to become watchdogs for community crimes.

“We’ve got to get more people to become active and to report things, or nobody will know who is doing what,” said volunteer Mary Murray, whose husband, Bob, is the Medical Lake SCOPE coordinator.

There will be refreshments and door prizes at the open house. Family IDs will be available.

The SCOPE office number is 299-7525.

Bingo benefit Friday night

A bingo benefit for Medical Lake resident Christopher Gollehon, 34, is planned for Friday at 7 p.m. at Hallett Elementary School, 524 S. Hallett St.

Funds will go toward helping Gollehon pay medical bills. Gollehon, a former baseball star, is battling multiple sclerosis.

Medical Lake residents Barbara Reis and Sharie Shearns are organizing the fund-raiser.
