Team ECOR set for more community outreach

Team ECOR doesn’t have a mascot or practice schedule but team members have heart, work together and wear uniforms.

ECOR stands for Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and the team is composed of a rotating set of church members who gather once a month to go out and do some good in the community. And they don’t just stick to Episcopalian causes; on Sunday, volunteers will be doing yard work for the elderly through the Senior Chore Service program run by Catholic Charities.

The goal was to increase the church’s outreach to the community, said the Rev. Brian Prior. The church selects a different program to help each month and there isn’t really any criteria a program has to meet to be selected. “It’s just any way we can help,” Prior said.

Parishioners sign up to wear the red Team ECOR T-shirt whenever a particular program catches their interest. Different volunteers sign up month after month. Families are also encouraged to participate.

“We really want to get a variety of folks signed up,” said Prior. “The hope is that everyone in our parish will participate.”
