Ferris sprinter to skip 4A meet
Ferris track sprinter Robert Davis, for undisclosed personal reasons, will apparently not compete in the State 4A track championships this weekend.
The decision was confirmed by Saxons activities coordinator Ken Russell.
“It’s pretty much on Robert,” Russell said. “He’s talking a little bit about injury.”
Davis, a junior, qualified for the state meet with victory last weekend in the 400 meter run and a swift second-place 22.22 200 behind Lewis and Clark freshman phenom Andre Jennings’ 22.13.
Both times are among the state’s best and Davis had earlier run the state’s fourth fastest 400 time of 49.23.
“Robert’s a quiet kid, very internal who doesn’t open up,” said Russell. “Coach (James) Fisher didn’t want to have it happen, but it’s in his court.”
The state meet begins Friday in Pasco this weekend.
