CMT tells the story of a rising star

Grim tidings. We’re entering that horrid TV lull between the season finales and the summer premieres.

One of the few new shows on tonight is for country music fans.

“In the Moment: Julie Roberts,” on CMT at 10, looks at how a low-level Nashville, Tenn., music-business employee became an up-and-coming singer — slipping her boss a demo without identifying it as hers, for starters. You can hear her “Break Down Here” on your favorite country station today.

The real question tonight is how many times they’re going to explain that she’s not the movie star with the similar name.

Highlights

“George Lopez,” ABC at 8: Repeat. The president visits the plant. Followed by repeats of “Married to the Kellys,” “Hope & Faith” and “Life with Bonnie.” (Of the four, only “George Lopez” and “Hope & Faith” will be returning in the fall.)

“Joan of Arcadia,” CBS at 8: Repeat. Joan tries to heal her relationship with Adam.

“Reba,” WB at 8: Repeat. The family goes into panic mode when Kyra disappears from Brock’s house in the middle of the night.

“Someone Like You” (2001), Fox at 8: Single again, talk-show staffer Jane (Ashley Judd) moves in with her platonic pal Eddie (Hugh Jackman). A chick-lit yawn. Ellen Barkin and Greg Kinnear also star.

“What I Like About You,” WB at 8:30: Repeat. Holly rushes to tell Vince that she spotted Henry with another girl, so they can start dating. But what is Vince doing when she arrives? Uh-oh.

“JAG,” CBS at 9: Repeat. Harm undertakes a dangerous mission.

“Grounded for Life,” WB at 9: Back-to-back repeats. Sean’s attempt to discipline Henry’s bratty friend makes him a pariah in Henry’s set. Then, Sean loans Eddie money, but his generosity gets him in trouble with the rest of the family when Claudia’s college tuition check bounces and Lily’s tattoo removal goes unfunded.

“48 Hours Investigates,” CBS at 10: Repeat.

“Las Vegas,” NBC at 10: Repeat focuses on the hunt for a rapist.

Family Fare

“Jimmy Neutron,” Nick at 8: Super sneakers! A fast-paced repeat.

Cable Cast

“TV Revolution,” Bravo at 8: Marathon of this week’s series, which takes a light look at issues such as gay characters and women’s roles on television.

NBA basketball, ESPN at 5: Conference final, Indiana Pacers at Detroit Pistons, Game 4.

“The Lion in Winter,” Showtime at 8: Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close star in a new version of the classic story of Henry II.
