The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Police arrested a 41-year-old transient Monday after he allegedly broke into a nursery.

The owner of Plant Farm at 14208 E. Fourth Ave. heard the nursery alarm go off about 5:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Spokane Valley Police Department.

The owner saw two men running away from the greenhouses. One of the men, identified as Dennis B. Camyn, was caught by police. The second suspect was never located.

Police concluded that the suspects had forced open a door and entered the building. Camyn was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of second degree burglary, police said.

Bat-weilding man arrested on burglary charge

A man was hit in the leg with a bat during a dispute over money last week.

Spokane Valley Police officers were called to a house in the 4200 block of North Burns Road about 10:30 a.m. May 22. A man allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom, demanded cash and struck the victim in the leg with a baseball bat, police said.

The victim told police he had agreed to buy a car stereo from a man but had not yet paid him. The man later was identified as Russell L. Foust, 17606 E. Sixth Ave., according to the police department.

Police tracked down the 27-year-old suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and booked into the Spokane County Jail.
