Area book events over the coming week include:

• Pittsburgh author Bill Campbell, former editor of the arts and politics magazine Contraband, will read from “Sunshine Patriots,” his debut “Rastafarian science fiction novel,” on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave. (838-0206)

• Pullman native Jean Hegland, author of the critically acclaimed “Into the Forest,” will read from her second novel, “Windfalls,” an exploration of contemporary motherhood, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Hastings, 101 Best Ave. (208-664-0464), and on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore.

• The Valley Readers Group will discuss “A Good House” by Bonnie Burnard on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Valley Hastings, 15312 E. Sprague Ave. (924-0667)

• Students in Julie Seipp’s East Valley High School honors humanities class will read from their historical novel “Berlin: 1700-2004: My Brother’s Keeper” on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore.

• Local author Al-Jack Dymond will sign copies of his historical novel “Willow” on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore.

• Author signings at this year’s Celebrating Mind, Body and Spirit Expo at the Spokane Convention Center include voice coach Arthur Samuel Joseph, “Vocal Power: Harnessing the Power Within,” following a presentation Saturday at 11 a.m.; the “compassionate coroner,” Dr. Janis Amatuzio, “Forever Ours,” Saturday at noon; and Brigitte Secard, “Soulfire: The Birth of Wild Aliveness,” following a lecture next Sunday at 1 p.m. Expo admission is $6 per day or $10 for the weekend.

• Bob Winecoop will sign copies of his book “The Way It Was” on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 9980 N. Newport Highway. (466-2231)

• Local author John Gaetano will sign copies of his book “America the Beautiful” on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Valley Hastings.

• A fund-raiser for Willow Springs, the Eastern Washington University student literary journal, will be Saturday at 7 p.m. at FSG Yoga Studios, 20 W. Main Ave., will feature live music, an auction and raffle, and short-order poetry by EWU instructor Christopher Howell. For more information, call 623-4349.
