Redmond’s status day to day
MIAMI — Florida catcher Mike Redmond left Saturday’s game against the New York Mets after being hit by a pitch from Jae Seo.
X-rays were negative, and Redmond – the former Gonzaga University and Gonzaga Prep star – was listed as day to day with a bruised right forearm.
Redmond, who has been playing with a chip fracture of his left pinkie, hopes to be back in the lineup Monday.
“Really, it just took the focus off my broken finger and put it on my other hand,” Redmond said. “So I’ve got that going for me.”
Redmond is hitting .278 with one home run and 16 RBIs.
Seo’s pitch was high and inside, and Redmond checked his swing. The ball sailed past the bottom of Redmond’s bat and struck him directly on the lower part of the forearm.
