Concerns about safety need to be voiced

Do you drive Saltese or 24th in the Valley? Are you aware that 600-plus additional vehicles will be driving those roads soon?

With the construction of the 200-lot Timberlane Terrace and 100-lot Remington Hill 3, that’s the conservative number of cars joining you. (Continued development at Morningside, Saltese Meadows, etc., adds more)

Winter’s black ice, poor visibility, etc., make for nasty roads and accidents already. The dense lots prove that developers and Spokane County don’t care about our lifestyle; do they care about safety?

The developer (an Arizona resident) claims he knows these winter roads because he lived here for 50 years. I know drivers from Morningside, Remington Hill and Saltese Meadows weren’t on these roads 50 years ago.

The 300 lots are not going to change. But we can voice our concerns about safety. Although these concerns affect thousands of residents, only 20 attended the (Oct. 26) traffic study meeting. That’s not enough. The car sliding on black ice could be headed for your carpool and you can’t get out of the way because of traffic.

Voice your concerns to Ann Winkler, Sunburst Engineering 924-2155, and the county planning department. Please! Your safety depends on it.
