Reception streak ends for Brown
Tampa Bay’s Tim Brown was held without a catch in Sunday’s 34-31 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Tampa, Fla., ending the third-longest receptions streak in NFL history at 179 games.
Brown, who spent the first 16 years of his career with the Oakland Raiders, had been building on the longest active streak since Sept. 19, when Jerry Rice’s NFL-record string of 274 consecutive games ended against the Buffalo Bills.
A reserve with the Bucs, the 38-year-old Brown has 20 catches for 161 yards and one touchdown this season. But with Joey Galloway and Joe Jurevicius back from injuries, the 38-year-old played very little.
Brown left the locker room without speaking to reporters.
