Harold ‘Max’ Seebeck

Spokane

Funeral for Harold Maxwell “Max” Seebeck, 94, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home with committal to follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Seebeck died Saturday.

Born in Conrad, Mont., in 1929, he graduated from Walla Walla High School, where he was a captain in ROTC. He became a private in the 384th Infantry Enlisted Reserve Corps in the Army for three years and was honorably discharged in 1931.

He earned a radio station operator license in 1933.

Mr. Seebeck moved to Spokane 54 years ago and worked as a lab technician for the U.S. government. He then worked for the state Highway Department until his retirement in 1979.

Mr. Seebeck was an active member of Evergreen Toastmasters, Corbin Senior Activity Center and Lidgerwood Evangelical Church and was a scoutmaster and commissioner in the Boy Scouts of America. He was awarded the Silver Beaver and honored in the Lilac Parade as Senior Citizen of 1983 for his community service.

His wife, June, died in 1998.

Survivors include a son, Frank Seebeck of Spokane; three daughters, Betty Drummond of La Grande, Ore., Judy Mahoney of Medical Lake and Carolyn Kezele of Yakima; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the Corbin Senior Center.

Dwight Hansen

Oldtown, Idaho

Memorial service for Dwight Eugene Hansen, 59, was Tuesday at Spirit Valley Christian Fellowship Church in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hansen died Thursday.

Born in Norfolk, Neb., in 1963 he graduated from high school in Coleridge, Neb. Immediately following graduation he began working for GTE until being drafted into the Navy in October 1965. He served two years and was honorably discharged as a seaman.

In 1970 he married Kathleen Carey in Reno, Nev.

After his discharge Mr. Hansen returned to working as a technician for GTE for 30 years in California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. After retiring in Wentachee in 1966, he moved with his family to Spirit Lake.

He worked in Coeur d’Alene for First Tel installing phone systems and later for Center Partners as a phone technician.

Mr. Hansen enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cribbage, riding motorcycles, and old Chevy’s.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Hansen of Bandon, Ore.; four daughters, Coreen, Jennifer and Christiana Hansen, all of Oldtown, and Virginia Wilkerson of Spirit Lake; a brother, Clark Hansen of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Edna Lovell

Marshall, Wash.

Memorial service for Edna A. Lovell, 82, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lovell, who was born in Furport, Wash., died last Wednesday. A lifelong area resident, she resided at her home in Marshall, Wash., for 45 years.

She graduated from Ione (Wash.) High School and was a social worker for the state of Washington.

Mrs. Lovell co-founded the Hub Club of Four Lakes and was a member of Four Lakes Grange and Four Lakes Methodist Church.

Her husband, Lloyd, died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Lovell of Spokane and David Lovell of Colbert; a daughter, Cheryl Lovell of Boise; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dennis Belew

Valley, Wash.

Memorial service for Dennis James Belew, 45, was Nov. 2 in Spokane Valley.

Mr. Belew, who was born in Fort Worth, Texas, died Oct. 10. He was 16-year resident of Spokane and had moved to Valley six months ago.

He worked in construction for 30 years at various locations. His hobbies included stamp collecting, playing piano and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Kimberly; a son, Cartis Stephens of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a daughter, Avril Hite of Spokane; and one grandchild.

John O’Malley

Springdale, Wash.

Memorial service for John L. O’Malley, 63, will b Saturday at 11 a.m. at Campus Grange in Springdale. Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O’Malley, who was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, died last Wednesday. He was a resident of Springdale for 14 years and previously had lived in Ford, Chewelah and Valley, Wash.

He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1959 and attended college in Iowa.

During his service with the Marines from 1963 to 1969, he achieved the rank of sergeant and received the service marksmanship award .

Mr. O’Malley was self-employed, and worked in sales and design for 36 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. His hobbies included woodworking and collecting antique guns.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Louise O’Malley; two daughters, Christina Hensel of Spokane and Cindy Felton of Victor, Iowa; a son, Shawn O’Malley of Springdale; his mother, Reginia O’Malley of Reinbeck, Iowa; a brother, David O’Malley of Kerman, Calif.; a sister, Susan Messerly of Reinbeck; and six grandchildren.

Barbara (Lake) Black

Spokane

Private service was held for Barbara J. (Lake) Black, 77. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Black, who was born in Minneapolis, died Friday. She moved to Spokane in 1990 from Lima, Ohio.

She graduated from Green Bay High School in 1945 and attended the University of Wisconsin for a year.

She married Russell Black in 1947.

Mrs. Black was a business office manager for the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Corrections for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of Ladies of the Oriental Shrine in Spokane and the Order of the Eastern Star in Ohio and was past president of Social Order of Beaucant in Ohio.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Danny Black of San Diego, Michael Black of Anaheim, Calif., and Thomas Black of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Spokane.

Priscilla ‘Per’ McLean

Spokane

Funeral for Priscilla A. “Per” McLean, 66, will be today at 10 a.m. at the Spokane Tribal Longhouse. Interment will be at the Wellpinit (Wash.) Presbyterian Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McLean, who died Saturday, was born in Nespelem, Wash.

She was a member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians, a longtime participant at the American Indian Center, and a member of St. Matthews Institutional Baptist Church.

She was well known for her arts and crafts, including handmade native dolls.

Her husband of 19 years, Wesley McLean, died in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Billy and Dave McLean, both of Spokane; two sisters, Theresa Oldhorn of Spokane and Marie Solomon of Auburn; and four grandchildren.

Ralph Dieziger

Post Falls

Service for Ralph Joseph Dieziger, 69, will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the family home in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dieziger, who was born in Lewiston, died Friday.

He married Helen Danquist in 1954, and they lived in Spokane before settling in Post Falls 41 years ago.

Mr. Dieziger worked as a machinist at Kaiser Aluminum until his retirement.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and logging his property near Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Helen; three children, David Dieziger of Missoula, Linda Stolley of Post Falls and Donna Kim of Muskego, Wis.; and six grandchildren.

Edna Homan

Spokane

Funeral for Edna Harman Homan, 93, will be today at 11 a.m. at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home.

Mrs. Homan, a resident of Spokane for nearly 80 years, died Thursday. She was born in Washington, Ind.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1927. After high school she worked at Crystal Laundry on Havermale Island.

With her husbands, Mrs. Homan was owner of several dry cleaners in Spokane, including French Cleaners, Paris Cleaners, Spokane Cleaners and Aladdin Cleaners.

She was a member of El Karnak Temple of Daughters of the Nile, and Eiram Court Ladies Oriental Shrine, a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Shrine Palomino Patrol.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Harman in 1980 and Foye Homan in 1997.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Donna Harman Cadwell of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and an uncle, Alfred Allen of Spokane Valley.

Sandra (Peterson) Leithauser

Spokane

Memorial service for Sandra Kae (Peterson) Leithauser, 55, will be Nov. 20 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Adriane Leithauser, 802 E. 32nd Ave. Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Leithauser, a lifelong resident of Spokane, died Wednesday.

She graduated from Ferris High School in 1967 and from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1970

She married John Leithauser in 1972.

Mrs. Leithauser worked as a registered nurse for 33 years and retired from Deaconess Hospital in 2004.

She was a member of Inland Empire Blues Society and enjoyed skiing, walking and music festivals. She received the Inland Empire Blues Society Special Appreciation Award in 2003.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Adriane Leithauser and Shelley Rogers, both of Spokane, and Laura Gonzales of Castro Valley, Calif.; her father, Roy Peterson of Post Falls; a sister, Deborah Draper of Spokane; a brother, R.V. Peterson of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

James Cahill

Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for James “Jim” William Cahill, 72, will be today at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Newport. Military inurnment will follow at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cahill, who was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., died Friday.

In 1953 he enlisted in the Army, serving two years during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he worked 30 years for IBM before his retirement.

He moved to Newport 10 years ago from Brooklyn.

Mr. Cahill was a Eucharistic minister at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Newport. He also enjoyed reading and spending time on the family farm.

Survivors include his wife, Vicky; three sons, Bobby, Matthew and Donald Cahill, and five daughters, Ann Cahill, Irene Dorney, Geralynn Cuevas, Beth Minogue and Ellen Klingler, all of New York; a sister, Peggy Young of Florida; and 11 grandchildren.

Royal DeBoer

Spokane Valley

Memorial service for Royal Martin DeBoer, 77, will be Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at Mirabeau Chapel.

Mr. DeBoer, a resident of Spokane Valley for 70 years, died Oct. 20. He was born in Riverdale, Neb.

He attended Central Valley schools and served in the Army infantry in the Korean War, where he was a spotter for a mortar crew and company driver.

Mr. DeBoer was an aluminum worker for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He had also worked in highway construction and as a truck driver.

He enjoyed motorcycling, camping, snowmobiling, bird hunting and fishing.

His first wife, Shirley, died in 1956.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, JoAnn; three sons, Marty and Duanne DeBoer, both of Spokane, and Dan Warehime of Kennewick; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
